This article aims to teach you how to quickly replace a new door handle in 6 simple steps.
The first step in installing a new door handle is to secure the door in place. However, it is best to open the door about halfway to gain access to the sides of the door as well as the door frame. Doing so will prevent your door from moving or closing when you install new door furniture.

After removing the cover, use a screwdriver to remove the screws from the panels on both sides of the door.
Repeat this operation on the other side of the door and slide off the handle.
Remove the spindle rod from the latching mechanism fitting inside the door.
At this stage, you may want to decide if you want to change the latch mechanism.
Slide the latch mechanism into the door until the latch plate is flush with the door. Screw the latch plate into the door using two screws, one at the top and one at the bottom.
Before screwing it into place, make sure the smooth, angled sides are in the same direction as the door closes.
Some door latches allow you to rotate this part, so it's worth checking that your latch does too.
Slide the new door handle onto the new spindle, aligning the new door handle correctly. Your new spindle will be inserted through the existing hole in the door.
Make sure this is aligned through the latch mechanism to avoid misalignment issues.

Attach the door handles by sliding them into place and then screwing them into place. Make sure to test the door by operating the door handle as usual: gently pull down on the lever. Press or screw the cover into place; these are the same on both sides of the door.
Pull the handle down to test again. Make sure your new inner door handle is working properly before you close the door!
